A Monroe man was arrested tonight in Duson for allegedly stealing a woman’s truck from a Lake Charles casino’s parking lot.

Duson police officers pulled over 30-year-old Rhett Page on Cameron Street just after 9 p.m. for driving 78 mph in a 45 mph zone.

Page said he was on his way to a Lafayette hospital to see the birth of his child.

Chief Kip Judice says there was no truth to that.

The truck was registered to a woman from Houston, Texas, who said she was at the casino and had thought her truck was in the parking lot.

The woman was told by police that her truck had been pulled over in Duson for speeding. She didn’t know the suspect, Judice says.

Page will be booked into the Lafayette Parish Jail for unauthorized use of a moveable.

Lake Charles police will be taking a report from the owner of the truck. Page may face additional charges in Lake Charles.

The truck is being secured by Duson police for the owner.
