Residents of Jennings could soon see a three percent increase in their water and sewer bills.
The City Council will hold a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. on June 26 to discuss the proposed increases.
The average increase for water would be $0.40 for most customers. Residents would pay a basic rate of $13.67 a month for the first 2,000 gallons of water used and $2.28 per 1,000 gallons for the next 13,000 gallons. The charges are reduced further as more water and sewer services are used.
The city also plans to begin a three-phase project later this year to replace all current water meters with new electronic water meters.
