Iberia Crime Stoppers is asking the public for information on a shootout.
Just after midnight on June 16, deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office heard 20-30 shots ring out, according to Sergeant Stephen Guidry. It was later determined that the shots came from the 1600 Block of Sugarland Terrace in New Iberia.
Several casings of various calibers were located and collected and it appeared that there was a short firefight that took place early that morning. During the exchange of fire, two people became victims of non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
