The Morgan City Police Department says they have arrested three people in connection with recent burglaries in Lakeside and Wyandotte subdivisions in the city.
On Wednesday, detectives arrested 19-year-old Isaiah Escort of Morgan City in connection with burglaries which occurred on June 6, 2018, in the Lakeside area.
Officers say 27-year-old Lantrell Ayers another suspect connected with these burglaries was arrested Tuesday afternoon. Investigators say they apprehended Ayers after an investigation led officers to a home on Patton Street in Wyandotte subdivision. Ayer allegedly fled the residence but was captured and arrested. Property was found in the home on Patton Street that were taken during those recent burglaries, according to investigators. Escort was identified as the second suspect in these burglaries. A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was located and arrested.
Both were arrested on four counts of simple burglary.
MCPD says the investigation is still ongoing and more charges are expected in the near future as more burglaries are linked. Anyone with information in regards to these investigations is asked to the contact the Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division at (985)380-4605.
In a separate incident, Morgan City Police arrested another person in connection with a burglary in the city. 34-year-old Elton Pinn was arrested on a simple burglary charge for a burglary which occurred on June 14, 2018, along Railroad Avenue. Pinn allegedly took multiple items from the residence.
He was booked into the Morgan City jail.
The Morgan City Police say they will be beefing up patrols in the areas that have been targeted by burglars. The department does stress that most of these incidents involved vehicles that were left unlocked or not properly secured.
