The St. Martinville City Council decided Monday to accept a proposal from their current waste contractor.
Several proposals were submitted for the work, but it was Republic Services that had the lowest overall bid, said city attorney Allen Durand.
There are a lot of moving parts to a waste contract, but Republic had the "combined lowest bid," Duran said.
"When you looked at the total cost to the city and all its residents, Republic was the lowest," he said.
Now officials will meet to iron out the details of the new contract, and the finalized document will be brought back to the council for approval, Durand said.
Because there’s no change in carrier, there won’t be any switching out of cans or anything like that, he said.
"Everything will stay in place," he said.
