A celebration mass was held Friday evening to mark the 50th anniversary of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
The mass celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Diocese of Lafayette and began at 6:30 p.m.
The event took place in the new church on Kaliste Saloom Road and will be followed by a reception in Leonpacher Hall (St. Pius X’s former church building). Viewers were able to watch a live stream of the mass by visiting the church’s online site.
St. Pius X Catholic Church began as a mission of Our Lady of Fatima in 1959. To read about the history of the church, click here.
A new church building was finished in 2017. St. Pius X Catholic Church is located at 201 E Bayou Pkwy in Lafayette.
