Finger found inside turtle in St. Tammany Parish, Deputies investigating

Officials in St. Tammany Parish are investigating after a human finger was found inside an alligator snapping turtle. 

According to the Advocate, the report of the finger was made on Monday, June 11, 2018, after man found the finger while cleaning the turtle to eat it. 

The animal was caught in St. Tammany Parish. 

The paper reports that deputies are now hoping to identify the finger but no fingerprints have yet been obtained. No hospitals have reported anyone missing a finger. 

The St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office is searching the area where the turtle was caught. A cadaver dog is also canvassing the area.
