Two arrested in arson and homicide investigations in St. Martin / St. Landry Parishes

The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office says they are still investigating the connection between this weekend’s arson and homicide that occurred in St. Martin and St. Landry Parishes. Two individuals have been arrested as a result of the investigations.

Investigators say that an arson investigation began on Saturday afternoon at a residence in the 1100 block of Bayou Mercier in St. Martinville. A suspect, identified by deputies as Brandon Boutte, was arrested by the Louisiana State Fire Marshal on Sunday morning in connection with the arson. He was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correction Center on one count of simple arson and other charges unrelated to the investigation. 

On Saturday evening, the body of an unidentified female was discovered by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. That female, after an investigation, was identified as 19-year-old Simone Robin of St. Martinville. Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office were contacted and say they were able to determine that the arson and homicide were connected. 

Deputies say they determined that Robin was shot and killed early Thursday morning and that the trailer was set on fire on Saturday afternoon. 

St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s deputies say they obtained warrants for 25-year-old Brandon Boutte of St. Martinville and 22-year-old Toby Boutte of Sunset in connection with the homicide. 

Brandon Boutte was arrested and booked on charges of one count of second-degree murder and one count obstruction of justice. Toby Boutte was arrested and booked on charges of accessory after the fact second-degree murder

Both are currently incarcerated in the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center. Bond has been set for Brandon Boutte at 1, 050,000. Toby Boutte’s bond is set at $100,000.
