Independent testing has found the so-called "brain-eating amoeba" in a water system that serves Pointe-aux-Chenes in Terrebonne Parish.
A release on the Consolidated Waterworks #1 post states that the Naegleria fowleri has been found again in the system. It was found in the system last summer as well.
After consultation with Louisiana Department of Health engineers, the system says they have have changed the disinfection procedure from chloramine to free chlorine.
System officials urge anyone who may use water from the system to get information from the state Department of Health.
