Lafayette Habitat for Humanity celebrates home dedication

Posted

Lafayette Habitat for Humanity hosted a home dedication in honor of the Alexander family purchasing their new home today.

This is the 11th Habitat home in the Pinhook pocket subdivision, located in the McComb-Veazey neighborhood. Community members, volunteers, and donors attended the ceremony.

Alexander says after having completed Lafayette Habitat’s program, she now feels prepared for home ownership, including paying a mortgage.

"This program has inspires me to work hard. Trust God, pray and ask. If it’s His will, He will give you the desires of your heart. Just don’t give up," she said.

Habitat does not give houses away. A qualified homebuyer partners with Habitat to help build their homes by putting in more than 300 hours of sweat equity. Then, they purchase their houses with an affordable mortgage financed by Habitat. These mortgage payments are then recycled to build more homes.
