Authorities in St. Mary Parish are searching for suspects involved in an attempted carjacking this afternoon.
Jeanerette City Marshal Fernest Marshall says the incident happened at a Jeanerette business, and shots were fired. No injuries were reported, he said.
It resulted in a high-speed chase that ended in St. Mary Parish, he said. The suspects are in a black Toyota Camry, he said.
A post on the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Facebook page states that the pursuit ended in the Burns Point area near the Burns Point Park.
A perimeter has been set up and deputies are currently searching for several suspects.
The suspects are considered to be armed and dangerous, and deputies ask that you avoid this area.
