Three of four escaped St. Mary Parish inmates apprehended

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office says that three of the four escaped inmates have been captured. 

Deputies say that 40-year-old William Deans was located in Morgan City Monday morning. 28-year-old Jamie Scarbrough and 18-year-old Tanner Scarbrough were apprehended in Picayune, Mississippi. The two are awaiting extradition to St. Mary Parish.

The Sheriff’s Office says they are still looking for 24-year-old Elias Todd. The department says there are several leads on Todd’s whereabouts.

In a press release, the department asks that residents continue to send in tips to the sheriff’s office via social media and telephone.

Four others have also been arrested in connection with the investigation:

–     26-year-old Brooke Mcmanus on the charge of assisting escape

–     49-year-old Bonita Federer on the charge of assisting escape

–     22-year-old Brandon Collier on the charge of assisting escape

–     37-year-old William Haff on the charge of assisting escape

A message was issued from Sheriff Scott Anslum on Monday:

Sheriff Scott Anslum would like to thank everyone who has assisted with the recent capturing of three of the four inmates that escaped from the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Deputies are continuing to make frequent patrols and monitor residential areas throughout the parish for the remaining inmate, 24-year-old Elias Todd.

The Sheriff’s Office remains in contact with surrounding agencies as information related to the escaped inmate at large comes in. If you see any suspicious activities or a suspect that fit the description in your area, call 911 immediately.

Sheriff Anslum asks the citizens to be aware of inaccurate information being published to social media. Sheriff Anslum reminds everyone to monitor the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office website and social media sites for updated, accurate information.

Sheriff Anslum advised there is an ongoing internal investigation in regards to the recent escape. Once the investigation is completed more information will be available at that time.

“We will continue to follow up on leads and release information regarding the escape as it becomes available to us”, says Sheriff Scott Anslum.
