A 27-year-old Lake Charles man is accused of raping a child.

On June 1, 2018, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Donald James O. Ellis, Jr. after an investigation revealed he had inappropriately touched an 11-year-old girl, according to a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office. During the investigation, the victim advised detectives the incident happened the previous night while she was staying at a family member’s home, detectives say.

Ellis allegedly confirmed the allegations against him to detectives. He was arrested and booked in the Calcasieu Correctional Jail and charged with first-degree rape.

Judge Ron Ware set his bond at $100,000.

CPSO Detective Kara Adams is the lead investigator on this case.
