Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested an Iowa man Monday.

Deputies first were called to a home on Bourque Road for a vehicle theft complaint. But when they got there, they allegedly found Phillip Paul Bourgeois, 51, intoxicated. He allegedly made racist comments continually to one of the deputies. And, deputies found he had an outstanding warrant for failure to pay child support.

Bourgeois was arrested and booked with hate crimes, on the child support warrant and with resisting arrest.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Bourgeois remained in the parish jail with no bond set for his release.
