The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is investigating an incident where a child was found in a laundromat in the 500 block of S. Main Street in Opelousas on Friday.
Police issued a photo of the child to the public asking if anyone knew the identity of the child. The child’s father lives next door to the laundromat and fell asleep, according to a spokeswoman for the Opelousas Police Department. While the father was sleeping, the toddler wandered next door to the business.
After a short while, the girl’s father was located.
The child was returned to her family and the incident was reported to DCFS.
