Louisiana State Police say that one man was killed after a two-vehicle crash on LA Highway 347 in St. Martin parish.
Troopers say the crash occurred on Monday, shortly after 6:30 pm on LA Highway 347 near Huron Road in St. Martin Parish.
An investigation by State Police revealed that a 2009 Chevrolet Impala driving northbound on LA 347 traveled off the right side of the road while taking a left curve. Troopers say the driver, identified as 22-year-old Kami Stoute of Arnaudville overcorrected and traveled across the centerline striking a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 73-year-old Whitney Chevalier of Arnaudville.
Troopers say that despite both drivers wearing seatbelts, the two received critical injuries as a result of the crash. The two were transported to Lafayette General Hospital for treatment where Chevalier was pronounced dead.
Troopers say impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. Toxicology samples were obtained for analysis.
