The first-ever South Louisiana Songwriters Festival is a wrap.

The event, hosted at both Blue Moon Saloon and Warehouse 535, combined workshops with both established and aspiring songwriters to help participants create and collaborate.

Organizers say one goal of the event is to let festival-goers hear new material and be the first to give feedback on music created in south Louisiana.

"Made right here in Lafayette and it’s a beautiful thing to have people from around the world coming together and putting such strong things together. And, you hear songs on the radio all the time but to hear what’s come out of this week has been amazing. I mean, we’ve got some future hits on the way for sure," said festival producer Mark Falgout.
