The Duson Police Department will conduct an awareness training at Duson Elementary School on Wednesday, May 23 at 1:30 pm.

Police Chief Kip Judice says that during training police officers will be safely discharging weapons using blank rounds. The training session is being conducted to familiarize educators and personnel with the sounds and smells of gunshots and to recognize danger.

The training, according to Chief Judice, is expected to last approximately one hour. Signage stating that police training is in progress will be placed at the perimeter of the school and at school entrances.

No students will be on campus during the training. The last day of school for students is today, May 22. Training is designed for educators and administrators only.
