Students across Acadiana spent the day impatiently waiting for the bell to ring. The final bell on Tuesday meant summer break was underway. Some elementary school students caught up with KATC to share their summer plans.

Ava trail who attends Myrtle Place Elementary says she plans to go to the Boys and Girls club this summer with her best friend. Elementary school students watched the clock, waiting for the bell to ring at 3:20.

I’m going to go to my grandma’s house, I’m going to play with her dogs and go on walks," one Myrtle Place student said.

5th-grade students at J Wallace James were especially excited about their last day of elementary school.

"Well, I’m excited about the last day of school because I’m finally moving on to like a different area. 5th grade moving on to 6th. And finally getting to upgrade out of middle school," Eayrle Ozenne said.

Other students said they are going to miss elementary school because of the teachers that have always believed in them.
