Lafayette woman arrested, accused of kidnapping infant in Scott

Scot Police say a Lafayette woman was arrested Monday after officers say she kidnapped an infant from a home. 

On Monday, May 21, 2018, officers with the Scott Police Department say they received a call about an alleged kidnapping of a child on the 1300 block of Westgate Road in Scott. The caller, identified as the mother, who claimed that 18-year-old Vanessa Breaux of Lafayette was visiting the home when for unknown reasons she became distraught and left the home with the woman’s 10-month-old infant. 

Information was gathered on Breaux’s vehicle and an alert was sent out to surrounding agencies, according to a release. 

Officers with the Breaux Bridge Police Department say they observed a vehicle matching the description given and Breaux was apprehended in the 500 block of Parkway Avenue. 

Breaux was arrested and the infant was reunited with his parents.

Breaux has been booked in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on simple kidnapping. Bond has not been set.
