Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Jennings couple on Friday after their six-year-old was found alone and crying on their home’s front porch.
Deputies were called by the child’s grandmother at 11 p.m. when she said she found the six-year-old on the porch crying, holding a towel and wet from the bathtub.
While Deputies were there, writing their report, the father returned home, intoxicated. The mother couldn’t be located. Deputies say both parents left the home in different vehicles, allegedly abandoning the child alone.
Stephen Lafosse, 36, was booked that night with cruelty to juveniles.
The mother, Melissa Lafosse, 33, was arrested on Tuesday and booked with cruelty to a juvenile as well.
The child is in the grandmother’s custody, deputies say.
