Residents who want to return home following explosion can request air quality checks

The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office says that operations of air-quality checks at the Mire Fire Department are being shut down at this time.

Residents of the Mire area who were evacuated during the chemical explosion and would like an air quality check should call GHD, according to deputies. The department says that 10 homes in the area were checked this morning. There have been no other calls for air quality checks.

Those residents who live in the evacuated area and would like to have their home’s air quality checked before returning can call the following numbers:
