The Evangeline Parish School Board unanimously approved a raise for all employees last night.

Starting with the 2018-19 school year, all certificated employees (teachers, principals, etc) will receive a $600 raise based on the teacher salary scale, and all support personnel will receive a $270 raise.

This increase will be in addition to the annual adjustment, which increases an employee’s pay for each new year of experience.

Superintendent Darwan Lazard recommended the raises, and explained that all staff kept close track of spending and tightened belts to try to come up with the funds to pay the raises.

Lazard said he, CFO Amy LaFleur and Assistant Superintendent Michael Lombas "have teamed up to continually look for ways and opportunities to reward our employees for their commitment and dedication to the onward, upward and forward progress of our students and schools."
