SMILE Community Action Agency has kicked off its National Community Action Month.
Community Action Month according to SMILE reinforces their role in helping low-income families achieve economic stability.
Tuesday, Hilda Wiltz and Dr. Chris Williams, CEO of SMILE in Acadiana announced the kick-off during the month of May. A proclamation presentation was made at Lafayette Consolidated Government’s city council.
Several other events are planned throughout the month in different parishes where SMILE is active including St. Martin, Iberia, and Lafayette Parishes.
Community Action Agencies across the country will be showcasing their programs and giving local residents a first-hand look at the issues that low-income families face and how Community Action programs help these families.
