The Morgan City Police Department is asking citizens to be aware of a phone scam claiming to raise money for local law-enforcement.
The department says they learned that the some of the citizens are receiving calls from a company proclaiming that they are raising money for local law-enforcement. On Facebook, The Morgan City Police Department says they are not at this time participating in any fundraising programs.
"From time to time the Morgan City Police Department Benevolent Association will participate in programs that include contacting our community but at this time the Morgan City Police Department is ‘NOT’ participating in any programs to raise money for law-enforcement. Make sure before you donate any money to organizations that they are vetted prior to sending out any donations. Stay Safe!"
