A Lake Charles man was arrested on charges of cruelty to a juvenile after deputies say he allegedly struck a 4-month-old child’s head against a kitchen bar.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office says they arrested 21-year-old McKeithan D. Frank of Lake Charles after an investigation into injuries sustained by a 4-month-old child that doctors and tests concluded were non-accidental.
Deputies say they were called to a local hospital on April 24 and were advised by hospital staff of a 4-month-old baby brought in with brain bleed. After an investigation on April 27, detectives spoke with the boyfriend of the child’s mother, McKeithan D. Frank. Frank was allegedly babysitting prior to the child being brought to the ER, according to detectives.
Detectives say that Frank admitted to striking the child’s head against a kitchen bar and was arrested. He has been booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on 2nd-degree cruelty to a juvenile. His bond is set a $150,000.
The child was transported to an out-of-town hospital, according to deputies, and is currently in stable condition.
