New developments involving abandoned houses on Shot Street in New Iberia.
Some of the houses have been moved and the rest were demolished this morning.
The owner, Frank Mixon, was ordered to relocate the homes after complaints from neighbors that they were harboring crimes.
"The city can’t have plans for other people’s property, but we would like to continue to work with the Mixon family to make this place, again, a beautiful rest area and a beautiful view," said Marlon Lewis, New Iberia Councilman. "I consider this a success story and a success in District 2 in the city of New Iberia. We got rid of blight, we got rid of places for crimes to take place, and we got rid of an eyesore.">
