Deputies still searching for suspect in Rapides Parish shooting, kidnapping

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Department says they are searching for a suspect wanted in a Sunday morning shooting and kidnapping in Boyce, LA.

Deputies say they responded to reports of a shooting and kidnapping that occurred in the 10000 block of LA Highway 28 West in Boyce. A male suspect, identified by deputies as 29-year-old Albert Mickulas, allegedly broke into a home and shot the homeowner before kidnapping a female victim. 

Deputies say the suspect forced the victim into a car and fled the area. 

The victim who was allegedly shot by Mickulas was transported to a local hospital and treated after deputies arrived on scene. Deputies say that victim has been released from the hospital. 

The kidnapping victim was located on Sunday evening by deputies on LA Highway 121 and Valentine Lake Road. Deputies say the victim is okay and that the suspect had abandoned her along the roadway.

Deputies say they are still searching for the suspect, Albert Mickulas, who was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with a "Just Do It" Nike logo and blue jeans. Mickulas is described by deputies as being a white male, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 174 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. 

Warrants have been obtained by the Sheriff’s Department for Mickulas’ arrest. Charges include home invasion, attempted 1st-degree murder, aggravated cruelty to animals, aggravated kidnapping, domestic abuse battery, and 2nd-degree battery. 

A search for Mickulas was ongoing in the woods off of LA Highway 121. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
