It was prom night for some in Lafayette Saturday night.

The city’s Parks and Recreation hosted a prom for teenagers and adults with special needs at the Heymann Recreation Center.

This year’s theme was "A Night on the Bayou."

All who attended dressed up for the special occasion where they danced the night away or at least until 9:30 p.m.

"It’s very important because these individuals are often left out of other mainstream activities, or they may feel out of place if they do attend those kinds of things. So, this gives them a place that they feel is for them, and they don’t have to be embarrassed or feel like they don’t belong," said Denise Ferguson, therapeutic recreation supervisor at Lafayette Parks and Recreation.
