Former Iberia Parish Sheriff Sid Hebert is facing charges of OWI 1st and careless operation.
The former sheriff, 59, was arrested by state police on Friday at 7 p.m.
Hebert was booked into the Vermilion Parish Jail on a $1,000 bond. He has since been released.
