Back in February, we told you about the visit of Anthony Bourdain to Acadiana.

CNN has now released the schedule of the upcoming season of "Parts Unknown," and the episode on Cajun Mardi Gras will air June 17.

The author, chef and well-known documenter of culture and his crew went "off the beaten path and takes part in the less familiar Mardi Gras traditions of the region’s history stemming from the French Middle Ages," the CNN post about the episode reads. "Donning a conical hat, mask and colorful fringed costume, the host participates in the day long Courir de Mardi Gras in Mamou. Meals include a home cooked meal in Grand Coteau, lunch at Laura’s 2 in Lafayette with creole cowboys, and boudin & cracklings at Billy’s in Opelousas."

It’s not his first visit here; Bourdain filmed a "Cajun Country" episode for his CNN series "No Reservations" in 2011. You can watch bites here. Here’s a blog post he wrote about it that you can read. Bourdain’s visit included a Cajun house party and boucherie, It was unique in that it did not include the typical out-of-towner cliches that almost always mark programs about Acadiana culture.
