A live scenario gas line rupture drill will be held today, April 12 at 5:30 pm at the River Oaks Catering and Event Center in Lafayette.

The public is invited to attend the live scenario to get a rare look and to experience the mock event.

The rupture will be demonstrated by officials with Louisiana One Call, CenterPoint Energy, Enertech, Consolidated Infrastructure Group, and Armand Construction, among others.

The demonstration will include what steps must be taken immediately after a rupture occurs. First responders in Lafayette, pipeline companies, and others on hand will work to control the mock incident.

The event is part of Lafayette Pipeline Safety Day.
