Lafayette man sentence to 40 years in prison for molesting children

A 62-year-old Lafayette man was convicted to 40 years in prison today for molesting two children.

Victor Benoit was charged with committing lewd and lascivious acts of a sexual nature over a period of seven years with two minors, according to District Attorney Keith Stutes.

Benoit received the maximum sentence under the law being sentenced to serve 20 years at hard labor on each molestation count, added the D.A.

The case was prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Daniel Landry and was investigated by the Lafayette City Police. 

The lead investigator was Detective Jason Migues. Judge Marilyn Castle presided over the case and sentencing.
