The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s department and the Louisiana Brand Commission are asking for help in locating the owner of a black Brangus cow found in Opelousas.

The department says the property owner where the cow was located was notified of the animal on his property by the Brand Commission. The owner confirmed that the cow was not theirs and made contact with other neighbors about whether the cow belonged to them.

The cow, according to deputies, does not have any distinct markings and is valued at $700. The cow was found near the intersection of Blossom and Acadiana Road in Opelousas.

The owner of the cow is asked to call the Louisiana Brand Commission at 225-925-3962 and mention file number M-18-006.
