LAFAYETTE, La. – The 21st annual LPSS Superintendent’s Scholarship Golf Tournament was held at the Farm d’Allie Golf Club in Carencro on Sunday and raised more than $48,000.

Proceeds from the tournament fund scholarships for graduating seniors from Lafayette Parish public schools. The scholarship helps to defray the cost of post-secondary education for the first two semesters for graduates who show academic potential, a desire to succeed, and who have financial need.

Coaches and administrators from the high schools competed in the morning. Acadiana High placed first followed closely by Comeaux High in second place. In the afternoon competition, ADG Engineering placed first followed by Sound & Communication Systems, Inc. in second. More than 110 golfers participated in the tournament.

"The tournament was a great success, and the plan for next year is to continue to raise funds for student scholarships and have a great time doing it," said Officer Annette Samec.

This year, four sponsors termed "Presenting Sponsors" gave $3,000 or more: Coca Cola, Sound & Communication Systems, Inc.; Ross Bus & Equipment Sales; and The Grad Shoppe.

Since 1997, the tournament has raised more than $460,000 for Lafayette Parish public school students.
