Louisiana First Lady Donna Edwards was in St. Martin Parish today.
Edwards, who is a teacher by profession, visited the Early Learning Center in St. Martin Parish, where she was guest speaker at the PTO program "Inspiring Leaders." She also toured St. Martinville Primary School to visit with the students there.
The first lady spoke about the importance of parent involvement and of teachers and parents working together to provide great education and experiences for students.
"It was such a great surprise to see the foster grant parents here with us today, I did not realize they where so involved in this program here," Edwards said. "They are such a necessary group to have in our schools. To have parents and grandparents and former teachers to come back and volunteer in our schools is such a great thing."
