Jennings Police are investigating shots fired in the city this afternoon.
The call came in at about 3:45 p.m., when someone reported that a gunman was shooting at a vehicle on McKinley Street. Police arrived at the intersection of McKinley and Craig streets and found an SUV in the ditch; however, that accident wasn’t related to the shooting, Chief Danny Semmes said.
After searching the neighborhood, police found a 9-mm handgun hidden under a house, the chief said. They also had reports of two men and a woman running from the area where the shots were fired, he said.
Police also received a call from a resident whose car window was shot out, he said.
Police are still combing the neighborhood for witnesses and evidence. If anyone has information about the incident, they are asked to call police.
