This week, the St. Martin Parish Council approved to measures that clear the way for both a study of drainage and some actual work.
The council approved a project in the Bayou Fuselier and Bayou Point Brule area.
The council also approved a measure that allows Parish President Chester Cedars to enter into an agreement with St. Martinville for a drainage study.
"We have seven major drainage projects that are being studied and/or designed throughout the parish that we believe will alleviate flooding problems, not only within the boundaries of St Martin Parish, but also its going to positively affect our neighbors," Cedars says.
