LAFAYETTE — Three new businesses will open in Northgate Mall next month.

Vondell's, a clothing store, will be located near the front entrance.

Sista 2 Sista's Hair Galore will be located in the rear of the mall.

The owner of Sista 2 Sista's, Roni LeCroix, will also open 110% Production, which will be located near Sista 2 Sista's.

"It's photography, music production, post production with music. We do headshots for resumes," explained LeCroix's business partner Josha Edmond.

Located a few feet away is Turning Heads Salon, which has been open for about two years.

The owner says she's already seeing the benefits of the new businesses.

"It's bringing an influx of clientele, so I believe that the north side is picking up again," said Cricket Porter.

The mall is also a hub for local businesses.

"Still, some people like the mom and pop stores, so I think it's a great opportunity for anybody who wants to open a business," said Porter.

The Northgate Mall falls into the new Northway Economic Development District. Starting next year, there will be a one-percent sales tax and two-percent hotel occupancy tax.

"The money stays right here in this community. It circulates," said Edmond. "That way, the infrastructure keeps going in this community, and the people that you're supporting in this mall are going back, in return, and supporting other businesses that are located in the mall or on the north side."
