The eight annual Pawdi Gras on the Pond started at noon today.
The event, which is held at Sugar Mill Pond, benefits the Animal Rescue Foundation of Louisiana, ARFLA.
Activities included train rides, the parade and costume judging.
There were costume contests for pups, bikes, carts, and wagons in seven categories, said Teddy Beaullieux, director of operations for Southern Lifestyle Development.
“It’s a great event, even if you don’t want to be in the contest or the parade, you can still come out and it doesn’t cost you anything,” Beaullieux said. “It’s a chance to get outdoors, bring your canine friends, and have a great time. It’s great seeing how much people enjoy themselves. It’s simple, but everybody has a good time.”
