BROUSSARD, La. — UPDATE: The Broussard Fire Department responded to a house fire at 100 Janin Road Saturday afternoon.
The department was notified of the house fire at 2:20 p.m. Just minutes later, the first unit arrived, followed by units from several other area fire departments, include Lafayette Fire Department, Carencro Fire Department, Milton Fire Department and Youngsville Fire Department.
Firefighters said the fire was coming from the roof when they arrived and eventually destroyed the house.
The home was occupied when the fire broke out, but everyone inside the home got out safely. There were no injuries.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Broussard Fire Department confirmed a house fire in Broussard was caused by a lightning strike.
The house is located on the 100 block of Janin Road near Emancipation Road. According to a neighbor, multiple area fire departments responded to the scene.
