LAFAYETTE, La. — Downtown Lafayette Unlimited (DLU) will kick off the Fall 2026 season of Downtown Alive! on Friday, August 28, with the fourth annual Ragin’ Cajuns® Downtown Alive!, presented by longtime supporter Evangeline Maid and hosted in partnership with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
The free community concert will take place in Parc Sans Souci from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. and feature The Vermillionaires, with an opening performance by The Pride of Acadiana.
Ragin’ Cajuns® Downtown Alive! brings together two communities at the heart of Lafayette — Downtown and UL Lafayette — to welcome students back for the fall semester and celebrate the energy of Lafayette as a vibrant college town.
The evening will feature on-site activations from UL Athletics, the UL Alumni Association, campus partners, and community vendors. UL students, faculty, staff, alumni, Downtown supporters, and the greater Lafayette community are invited to join the celebration.
The Downtown community can also show its Ragin’ Cajuns spirit by supporting UL Lafayette students beyond Friday night. Throughout the week, Chase Tower will serve as a donation drop-off location for the UL Career Closet Drive. Community members are encouraged to use their fall closet refresh as an opportunity to donate professional clothing and help UL students prepare to enter the workforce with confidence. Donation boxes will be available at Chase Tower all week.
Families can also visit CMA on the Go!, the Children’s Museum of Acadiana's traveling educational program, at the Parc Sans Souci playground. The activation brings hands-on STEM activities and interactive learning directly to the event, giving children an opportunity to explore science, math, creativity, and more through engaging, age-appropriate activities.
Food will be available for purchase from The Bearded Food Junkie, Smiley Ice, and Amis Grocery. Downtown Alive!, Evangeline Maid, and Downtown Lafayette merchandise will also be available throughout the evening.
Downtown Alive! remains free to attend thanks to the support of sponsors and attendees. Guests are encouraged to purchase beverages from the official DTA! beverage tent, with proceeds helping support the free concert series. Outside ice chests are not permitted.
