Lafayette General Health has announced a new app called Health Anywhere, according to The Advocate.

A press release on Wednesday said the app is a "safe, convenient way to access local providers 24/7, anywhere in Louisiana."

Patients can live chat with healthcare providers for a flat rate of $45, before insurance.

Prescriptions can be sent directly to the patient's pharmacy of choice.

Another convenience the app provides is for patients who already see a LGH physician - those patients' medical records will be linked to their profile and will be available during their virtual visit.

Lafayette General Health President David Callecod, FACHE, said that the app "connects you to a local, licensed healthcare provider who diagnoses you and provides a treatment plan within minutes without you ever having to leave your home or office or anywhere with a WiFi connection. This service is redefining the waiting room."

The app is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play for free. Learn more about the app here.
