LAFAYETTE, La — A UL football player has been suspended following his arrest.
According to police, Alex Allen and a 24-year-old male were involved in an altercation at the corner of S. Buchanan and Congress Street the night of December 21st. The 24-year-old was transported to a local hospital; the extent of injuries is unknown at this time. Allen, who had recently graduated, was arrested on 2nd degree battery charges.
University officials have a released a statement regarding Allen's arrest:
"Out of respect for the legal process, the University will not comment circumstances that led to the student-athlete's suspension. The thoughts of the University community are with the injured student and his family."
Allen has since bonded out
