LAFAYETTE — Some large public events are being canceled because of concerns with the coronavirus including SXSW in Austin. The week includes several events, including a music festival. It attracts artist from all over the world. With the cancellation in place, thousands of people are without plans.

"We'll have a party here, our own South by Southwest" Micheal Doucet said.

Doucet and his band Beausoleil, were going to debut his new album next week in Austin. Plans quickly changed when the event was canceled.

"Well of course everyone is disappointed. But you have to look at the whole picture, it's just not about us. It's a real disease, it's a real virus. It's a dilemma you just have to take precautions" Doucet said.

Mark Falgout, owner of Blue Moon Saloon says when a gig is canceled, the artist is out of a job.

"If you go to Austin during Southby you'll see more 15 passenger bands pulling trailers then you can imagine. They got folks who road trip from all over north America to get there" Falgout said.

Now Falgout is inviting artist to come perform here in Lafayette at the Blue Moon Saloon.

"All were looking to do is kind of give someone a little bit of opportunity" Falgout said.

The showcase will take place next Tuesday and Thursday. Already Falgout has several artist who confirmed they'll be there.
