Kiwanis Club of Lafayette will host six high schools a night in a Football Jamboree to open the season for a two night event

LAFAYETTE PARISH — Thursday night lights arrives in Acadiana as the Kiwanis Club of Lafayette hosts the 73rd Annual High School Football Jamboree on Aug. 28–29.

Christian Williford, President of Kiwanis Club of Lafayette sat down with KATC to give Acadiana all the details.

Football Jamboree kicks off high school season

The two-night jamboree will take place at Comeaux High School, with kickoff at 6 p.m. each evening.
Six match ups across Lafayette Parish will give players the opportunity to warm up ahead of the official start of the football season while raising funds for Kiwanis youth programs.

Fans should note a clear bag policy will be in effect at the gates along with LPSS providing equipment for weapon checks at gate entrance.

This is a two day event, with a $15 entrance fee at the gate each night.
Proceeds go to the Kiwanis Club of Lafayette and are used to support their initiatives for local youth which includes things such as the following:

In addition to the opportunity for the players to enjoy playing in front of their families and the larger than normal crowds multiple games draw in, every year, a Queen is selected to be presented at the Jamboree. This year Christian says he will have the honor of presenting Anaya Sonnier during the Jamboree. Congratulations Anaya and good luck to the teams!

Tickets are available at the gates. Kickoff is 6 p.m. both nights at Comeaux High School.
