LAFAYETTE — UPDATE: Kaliste Saloom has reopened between North Meyers and E. Broussard Road following a vehicle crash that brought down power lines in the area.
The stretch of roadway was closed temporarily after a driver crashed into a power pole, knocking down power lines.
That crash happened around 6 a.m. in the 3500 block of Kaliste Saloom Road. Police say their preliminary investigation found the driver lost control of the vehicle before crashing.
The extent of the driver's injuries is unknown.
A text message sent by the Lafayette Parish School System alerted parents that school buses would not be running in the area this morning. Parents who live in the affected area were advised to bring their children to school.
