This building was the home to Domingue Motors, a great business that ran strong in Breaux Bridge until the mid-sixties or so. Then, it was abandoned for about three decades. To the rescue about 10 years ago? Buck and Johnny's, a popular eatery that continues to work wonders
The late Johnny Raymond wanted to open a pizza place…
“He said, 'I want to open up a pizzeria',” laughs his widow (and Buck & Johnny’s managing partner Coatney Raymond), “and I said, 'what'?’”
"So, it was a dream of Mr. David Buck and Mr. Johnny Raymond, and you can tell when you walk in here, there's just something special about this place; our food is special, our staff is special and you just want to come back."
Buck and Johnny's has persevered throughout the pandemic… because of community support, and says Raymond, because of its 30-or so employees, "We love our staff, we have the best people, we love what they give us. We have the best people in the kitchen, the best servers "
They never thought of closing, and Buck & Johnny's has learned to embrace newer concepts such as curbside service and free delivery with a 10-mile radius.
"Especially with the delivery,” says Raymond. “The delivery has impressed me more than anything " Branch agrees, and loves the creative thinking that has taken place. “If there's been one blessing to come out of this it's been that it's taught us to come out of our box a little bit."

From Domingue Motors - where Breaux Bridgians purchased lots of cars to Buck & Johnny’s where master craftsmen like Chef Tony Savoy creates magic.
“’Crabcake Coatney’,” smiles Raymond. “If I let 'em name it after me, it's got to be good "
“Award-winning gumbos, we have stuffed catfish, we have pastas that are phenomenal," adds Branch.
“And any kind of special that Chef cooks,” finishes Raymond. “It's good, the soups are unbelievable-this guy has never made a bad soup! Ever !!"
So, if you take a look at the Buck & Johnny’s menu, and on this Takeout Tuesday,-- or any day really-you're going find tons of great possibilities and of course, Buck and Johnny's is located right in the heart of Breaux Bridge.
