From Happy Meals to Thank you Meals, our nation’s McDonald’s are telling our first-responders we appreciate you and that you guys matter.

Simply put--First-responders, healthcare workers and military personnel--- McDonalds has a message for you.

“It’s a huge, huge ‘thank you’ from us, to the people that go out there and risk their lives every day,” says McDonald’s Lafayette President and CEO E.J. Krampe.

Presenting the aptly named “Thank You Meal”--- a breakfast, lunch, dinner— perhaps all three--- given from the heart at absolutely no cost to those who have and –are-- serving us time and time again.

I’m also grateful for the leadership shown by the Krampe family and by the McDonald’s Corporation to lead the way in recognizing first-responders,” says Lafayette Parish Sheriff Mark Garber.

McDonald’s Lafayette leading by example--- telling our friends and neighbors who rarely ask for a “thank you”—that they are indeed appreciated. Especially in this difficult Corona Era.

“We are a service-oriented company,” explains Krampe. “We are a local business in the communities that we’re in and we take great pride in being able to say ‘yes’ and being able to serve those who serve us every day."

Here’s another great example of leadership--- social distancing but at the same time--- a bit of creative marketing as well. McDonald’s Lafayette’s Vicky Brignac spacing out six feet using Big Mac boxes, and all part of a most generous philanthropic, promotional gesture.

“So, for McDonald’s to step forward and feed our people, in this time of emergency, means a great deal to us,” adds Acadian Ambulance CEO Richard Zuschlag.

Speaking of, many of the Acadian Ambulance staff members are often unable to go home or, at the most, are hardly allowed to interact with family members once they do go home. Thus, this “Thank You” from McDonald’s will go a big, big way. “Quarantines and self-quarantines make it kind of hard to get to the kitchen sometimes,” I comment. Acadian’s Adam Olivier concurs. “Yeh, it is, because a lot of them (our workers) are staying in one room and its relieving for them to know whether they work days or work nights, McDonalds is going to be open, McDonald’s is going to be able to feed them and help them out.”

Now, officially the ‘Thank You Meals’ promotion will continue for the next couple weeks, but know this—the Krampe family, our local McDonalds?? They’ve been doing this and serving first-responders since the very beginning of the corona pandemic.
