One of Acadiana's new principals is a guy by the name of Kyle Bourque. Kyle took over St. Cecilia in Broussard in March, we had a status report on him in the summer, and now that the kids are on campus, we thought this would be a good time to check in and see how things are going.

" I'm still here, I'm still kicking, it's been an adventure. We'll say," Bourque said. "The staff and faculty … that I'm working with are phenomenal, that tells me it was a great move. My kids are loving it here-indicator... and the kids are wonderful here."

"I have always been a work work work and this job has taught me there are limitations to this body I've got to listen to it, you know?"

" I want to get better on time management from an administrative standpoint. I'm still on a teachers time management clock and calendar. And that presents a problem. Because the teacher ends at 3:30 but the principal's job keeps going."

"When I want my day to be better, having a bit of a down day, I go out to the playground and talk to the pre-k kids. It's a great conversation you know-they make me happy."

We asked him what grade he would give himself as a first time principal.

"C-PLUS!! I'm passing but there's still some room to grow," he answered.

When it comes to Covid, while Kyle Bourque says he wishes he would have known it was coming. He adds while it wouldn't have changed his mind, it would have given him a head start on preparing and planning.
